A newly introduced bill could help reduce the number of drivers that illegally pass school buses in the Peach State.
Senate Bill 57 was initially introduced as a bill on driver's license regulations but was amended by a House committee to include the right to install cameras on the exterior of school buses to capture the license plate numbers of drivers that illegally pass a school bus.
The bill will also give police the power to review the video and mail tickets to violators, and it would give the courts the right to determine whether the vehicle's registered owner was driving when it passed the school bus.
As of this writing, the bill was approved in the House with a 144-20 vote and was headed back to the Senate to review changes made by the House.
