American School Bus Council Seeks Candidates for New Coordinator Position

The American School Bus Council is in search of a coordinator whose primary function is to support the marketing and operational activities of the ASBC. At the direction of the Council, this individual will oversee all ASBC activities, support members in completion of tasks, and serve as a primary coordinator of all ASBC programs.

The American School Bus Council is a coalition of the school transportation industry – including public and private transportation providers, school bus manufacturers, and state officials responsible for pupil transportation. Council members are committed to providing safe, effective, efficient and healthy transportation for the more than 26 million school children who ride more than 480,000 school buses each day. The American School Bus Council was formed in 2006 to educate parents, school officials and lawmakers about the essential role the yellow school bus plays in the safety, health, security and readiness of America’s schoolchildren. Council members advocate for increased school transportation funding and advances industry standards on safety, security, environment, energy and access to education that are above and beyond state and federal law.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all ASBC projects
  • Coordinate all ASBC communications, including:
    • Regularly communicate status of projects to all ASBC members
    • Coordinate publication of ASBC newsletter
    • Maintain and update ASBC website
  • Coordinate ASBC Partnership programs, including:
    • Solicitation of new partners, both internal and external to school bus industry.
    • Communications to existing partners
    • Coordinate activity and logistics for ASBC Summit
    • Coordinate deliverables to partners as dictated by partnership program
  • Assist in accounts receivable and payables for ASBC
  • Oversee ASBC budget in conjunction with NSTA (National School Transportation Association)
  • Manage relations with outside vendors
  • Ensure council members and vendors complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Attend ASBC meetings and specified tradeshows throughout the year
  • Coordinate council activities
  • Maintain council records
  • Coordinate and respond to industry requests
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years project management experience
  • At least 3 years marketing experience

Desired Skills

  • Experience in the school transportation or education industry is a plus
  • Effectively use all available resources
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with web content management and coordination
