John Green, the long-time supervisor of the California Department of Education's Office of School Transportation, will retire at the end of 2010 after 32 years in state government.
"I leave the Office of School Transportation with trepidation and sadness not because of the continued success of the industry, which is unquestionable with the quality of the people within, but my entering retirement after so many years in the school transportation safety world," he wrote. Green tallied 38 years of public service as a California Highway Patrol Officer and later at the Department of Education. His last day on the job is Dec. 30. A representative from his office said the Department of Education is currently reviewing applications for the next office supervisor. |

Green announced his retirement in a letter to School Transportation News.
