WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Federal Head Start Bureau on Friday sent a letter to all grantees informing them that up to $4,000 in training and technical assistance funds are available.

Windy Hill, associate commissioner of the Head Start Bureau said that the one-time supplement is to be used for training that will improve the effectiveness of the grantee program governance structure. The funds are part of Head Start's statutory allotment for use, in this case to foster program and management improvement activities. She said granteees may apply for funds that will be used for intensive, grantee-designed governance training that provides in-depth orientation to all members of the governing boards, policy councils and senior Head Start staff on their administrative and fiduciary responsibilities within their organizations and as Head Start agencies.

Grant application requests must be submitted to the Administration of Children and Families regional office no later than August 20, and should be no more than two pages long.
